It snowed!!!!

Friday we had a blizzard, or we would have had one if it had been a few degrees colder.  All we had was wind and rain.

Saturday night it really did snow though.  I couldn’t believe it.  Then Sunday afternoon it snowed again!  Sadly, it all melted by today.

However, it really did snow.  In November.

I can’t wait for December!

Life:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I,

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

from “The Read Not Taken” by Robert Frost

Culture:

Germans are white too.  They clap on the beat.

Gratitude:

I am very thankful that I am two things: Female and Catholic.

They allow me two great consolations: Tears and the Eucharist.

Irony:

A single mothers‘ home named after Marie Goretti.

Pain:

Only those who have access to your heart can stab it.

Family:

We go through many Steps in our lives

We trip and Stumble, fumble our Dreams

Wish on our Mistakes

Wish they were never made.

Apologize for our wrongs

but really need to forgive ourselves.

Our Sorrys, our self, our unforgiveness

How do we live with this

Our hearts become stiff when the love is Broken

Our emotional frustration leads to everlasting  Meditation

How can we make it up to others

And especially ourselves…

So I ventured out on my own into the open expanse of Europe.

I flew to London.

True, I was meeting a friend there, but I spent most of the two days wandering the city alone.  I saw all of the major attractions, including the Queen herself.  I also had the great experience of seeing a parade (with tons of marching bands, my favorite!).

It was great.

However, after being on my feet for almost 36 hours straight, I was glad to come home.  I love being somewhere that I have a place to go when I am tired, know where I am going and how to get there, am familiar with the traffic patterns, and understand the language.  My travel bug is cured for a while, at least for going out of the country.

Now I have a better packing list for England trips.  The essential elements being what I forgot this time:

  • umbrella
  • hat
  • extra shoes

The other night I was laying in bed listening to the music on my iPod that my choir used to sing.  On some songs I would pick out the instruments or vocal parts that I could do.  On one song I heard the soft, low notes of the cello and thought about the same beautiful instrument that sat at the foot of my bed.  Then it occurred to me: all last year my choir had been praying for a cello player.

I had to laugh, it was just too ironic.  Two months after I leave the choir I learn how to play the instument they wanted.  But that wasn’t intentional; cello was just the most readily available and easiest to learn instrument that my school had.

But I wasn’t really surprised.  How else had I come to Germany and been surrounded by wonderful people than because of prayer?  And how many other dreams have come true because of God’s requested help?

The answer to those prayers last year is a resounding YES.  The kind of resonance that I feel through my entire body, like when I play a pure note on my cello.

Now I am searching for an internship and I pray for it every night.  I can’t wait to see what happens.  Please pray for me too.
